Who I am and what I do
Cornelia de Kock is an experienced and professionally qualified Educational Psychologist who is passionate about and committed to working with children, adolescents, and families. She has a special interest in working with children who experience barriers to learning and/or emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as working with their parents.
She is skilled in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Parenting Skills Training, Positive Behaviour Support as well as Cognitive and Educational Assessments.
Cornelia holds a B.A. Degree as well as a Post Graduate Higher Educational Diploma which she obtained from the University of Pretoria as well as a B.Ed. (Hons.) Guidance and Counselling degree and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling, both of which she attained Cum Laude at the University of South Africa.
Prior to following a career as an Educational Psychologist, Cornelia taught the subjects Afrikaans and English at a Secondary School level, i.e., to learners in Grade 8 to 12. Her passion for supporting learners who struggle because of some or other barrier or life situation inspired her to register as an Educational Psychologist.
Cornelia has occupied management positions at more than one remedial school for a period of 28 years. As Head of Therapy during these years, she gained a wealth of knowledge regarding the way different professionals working in a multi-disciplinary team, complement each other. She also has extensive knowledge concerning the fields of expertise of professionals like, for example, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, as well as Learning Support Therapists.
As an Educational Psychologist registered with the Health Professional Council of South Africa, she endeavours to make a positive difference in the lives of each child or adult that requires her assistance.
